Welcome! This monthly newsletter details top media and entertainment discussions online involving Nashville.
The information is based on findings from the Brandwatch Consumer Research platform used in MTSU’s Social Media Insights Lab. Brandwatch Consumer Research tracks discussions from blogs, forums, news sites, Reddit, review sites, Tumblr, Twitter, and YouTube.
Overall, more than 270,000 online conversations by more than 145,000 unique authors included the word Nashville in February. Learn more about some of those conversations in the articles below.
Cash-ing In
Nashville SC (@NashvilleSC) kicked off the 2023 Major League Soccer season by debuting its Man in Black kit honoring Johnny Cash. The announcement ranked among the month’s top Twitter stories that mentioned Nashville in February. It generated nearly 9 million impressions on the app.
Retweets by soccer-star-turned-analyst Taylor Twellman (@TaylorTwellman) and by the official MLS account (@MLS) provided early boosts in popularity for Nashville SC’s original post.
The combination of the Man in Black kit and the musical icon’s Feb. 26 birthday - he would’ve been 91 - helped place the Johnny Cash Twitter account (@johnnycash) among Nashville’s top 10 most mentioned Tweeters in February.

Sayin’ What She’s Thinkin’
Billboard’s article about Lainey Wilson was the third-most shared link on Nashville Twitter in February with more than 35 million impressions. Meanwhile, @laineywilson was among Nashville’s most mentioned Tweeters for the month.
The #BBWomeninMusic hashtag that @billboard used in its Tweet promoting the article ranked second only to #Nashville among the top hashtags for February.
Rising Stars of Country Music
The Today Show’s Sunday Spotlight Story “Meet the Black artists bringing diversity to country music” ranked among the top 10 stories on Nashville Twitter in February with 10.8 million impressions, placed journalist @morganradford among the month’s top Tweeters, and helped make #SundaySpotlight a top hashtag.
K-Popry
P1Harmony delivered its “A” game in Music City this month.
The chart below tracks online conversation about Nashville in February. See that first peak (A)? That belongs to the K-Pop group, which brought its first tour to the Opry on Sunday evening, Feb. 12.
Conversation around the P1Harmony Opry show contributed to an 80-percent increase in online discussion about Nashville the following day.
More good news for P1Harmony: The online conversation featured positive sentiment.
Ain’t It Fun
Paramore (@Paramore) contributed to a spike in conversation about Nashville early in the month with its album release show at the Opry on Feb. 6.
The popularity of the post below remained evident at month’s end as it helped place the camera flash emoji among the top 10 emojis for posts mentioning Nashville with nearly 8 million impressions.

Feeling Chatty: Tanya Jacobs of Nashville Chatter ranked among the area’s most mentioned bloggers in February with posts about popular gaming titles including Grand Theft Auto, WWE2k23, Nintendo Switch 2, Minecraft, and Call of Duty.
Music to Their Ears: Steel Guitar Forum, “where steel players meet online,” ranked fifth among online forums for Nashville mentions in February.
Drive Time Listeners: The Eighth Room (@the_eighth_room) topped the most shared URLs for Nashville in February followed by On Time Traffic with Commander Chuck (@CommanderChuck1).
Top Emoji
Sparkles was Nashville’s top emoji in February with more than 24 million impressions.
